Step 23: Hook Up Your Utilities

This is one of tedious tasks that need to be done, especially if you would like electricity and running water! While it is on your mind, call as soon as you can to get all the utilities transferred over to your name. This means your electric, water, sewer, trash, gas (if applies), and also your cable/internet! Have all your utilities start on the day of closing. If you are moving into a condo, check with the property manager to see if cable or internet is provided in your HOA fee. If not, check to see if there is a certain provider you have to use or if you are free to pick.
